The Place

The Place — formally The Place of Forsyth County — is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Forsyth County families in need. Its thrift store on The Place Circle in Cumming is the organization's main retail operation; sales fund The Place's food pantry, financial-assistance programs, and other community services for local residents experiencing hardship.

The thrift store carries donated clothing, shoes, household goods, books, small furniture, and seasonal items. Inventory rotates as donations come in. The Place accepts drop-off donations of clean, sellable goods at the thrift store; the organization publishes a current accepted-items list and any active intake restrictions on its website. Volunteers staff much of the operation, and volunteer signup is also handled through theplacega.org. For shoppers, the location is an easy stop in central Cumming.
